Evolution of materials handling equipment

Evolution of materials handling equipment(electric forklift for sale)

Industrial reporter has prepared a special on the evolution of equipment for materials handling.

 manual material handling.

The Material Handling Institute defines materials handling as "the movement, protection, storage and control of materials and products throughout the process of manufacture and distribution, consumption and disposal(forklift for sale Singapore).

This process includes a wide range of equipment and systems that help with forecasting, allocation of resources, production planning, flow management and processes, inventory management, customer delivery, support and after -

sales service, and a host of other activities and basic processes for business. These innovations, along with traditional equipment and systems for material handling and logistics, are the solutions that make manufacturing and supply chain work (forklift for rent Singapore). "

700 BC: The Greeks developed the technique of mechanical breakdown of the forces using hoists called. The hoist is composed of a fixed pulley and a second support to displace the object.

III century BC: Invention of the Archimedes screw, a helical gravimetric machine used for lifting water, flour, cereals or excavated material. There hypothesis that was already used in ancient Egypt.  Photo 2

It was manual handling
The materials were moved by human power whenever possible. Cranes, winches and lifting very heavy loads were used in it was not possible for man the lift alone(material handling equipment). Photo 1

It was machine maintenance
Mankind learned the use of mechanical principles as the main source material handling
A little history on cranes
The first documented version or concept of a crane was called shaduf and was used by Egyptians to transport water for about 4,000 years. The crane consisted of a long pivoting bar which swung on a vertical support with a heavy accessory mounted on one side of the bar and a ladle at the other end
(used excavator for sale and rent).

The first data using the crane come from ancient Greece to the sixth century where iron clamps were used to transport stone blocks of the temples. When the pulley appeared carrying heavy loads it is facilitated by replacing the ramps.

During the Middle Ages, the use of cranes for the construction of the huge European cathedrals and for loading and unloading goods from boats main ports led to the advancement and improvement of the design of cranes
( reach truck for sale Singapore ).

Until the mid-nineteenth century, cranes continued to be dependent on the energy produced by humans or animals; however this quickly changed with the advance of steam engines. At the end of the century, cranes were propelled by internal combustion engines and electric motors. The cranes began to be constructed of cast iron and steel instead of wood.
